Hi, I’m Teri!
I’m a children’s book author, an
Air Force pilot, and a mom of two.
Like so many parents, I read to my kids every night before bed.
As a USAF pilot, I searched for picture books that would introduce Graham and Charlie to aviation, but the options were pretty limited (and super boring).
I vocalized my wish for a book about my jet—the C-17. I wanted something that would be entertaining, showcase what I love most about military flying (the adventures! The friends! The fun!), and maybe even sneak in some educational elements.
That book didn’t exist, so my husband suggested I write it myself.
I worked on Operation Aviation during my lunch breaks at the Pentagon and after my kids went to sleep every night. I tapped into my Air Force network to triple check the accuracy of each detail, and I filled my Notes app with ideas for rhymes. Graham and Charlie served as my de facto test audience, and my husband was my first copy editor.
What started as a family passion project has since evolved into a published series, but my hopes, dreams, and purpose haven’t changed. I want to make aviation accessible to young, curious minds, and I’m passionate about entertaining and educating children of all genders, races, and backgrounds.
Our kids all deserve to be inspired and empowered.
